New York City optical boutique Silver Lining Opticians introduces its first namesake eyewear collection. Founded in 2007 by vintage eyewear aficionado Jordan Silver and veteran optician Erik Sacher, Silver Lining Opticians focuses on independently-made vintage and vintage-inspired handmade eyewear from hard to find global brands. In the 10 years since opening shop in the Soho district of NYC, Silver and Sacher have successfully achieved their vision of providing a high standard of quality with personalized service for its discerning clientele, with a high-profile roster of customers including Bill Gates and Kanye West. The debut collection stays true to Silver Lining’s roots in timeless design and quality craftsmanship, drawing inspiration from self-expression and identity based on a feeling rather than a logo. Frames are constructed with carefully selected materials including Japanese and Italian plant-based acetates, five and seven-barrel hinges, mineral glass and CR-39 lenses, and custom beta titanium eyewires and rivets with patterns influenced by gritty details from the city’s hexagonal walkway tiles. Eight optical and eight sunwear styles are available in multiple shapes and colors, all incorporating New York’s creative and confident spirit designed to translate to the wearer. Merchandising materials include marble logo hexagon pucks, marble pyramids, countercards and custom cases.
